My car wouldn’t start so I had it towed to Clark automotive. When my car arrived it was close to closing time so the mechanic mentioned he would take a look at the car but wouldn’t be able to let me know much until Monday - although they are open Saturdays I was told the two guys who worked Saturdays were not trained mechanics to diagnose, they only handle small jobs. I didn’t understand that response but ok.. Saturday I received a call saying that my car would need a engine diagnostic test because they couldn’t find anything else wrong with the car( I thought it could’ve been my starter or battery upon sending it to Clarks) I was told to run the test it would cost me $150. I told them go ahead and run it because I needed to know what was wrong with the car. Monday I didn’t hear from anyone so I called around 1pm to follow up. I was told by LUKE the car was a total loss and could not be fixed because 2 out of 4 of my cylinders were not receiving compression to the engine. I asked what could’ve caused this issue but Luke couldn’t tell me he said they were drawing up estimates to replace the engine and he would call me back. 1 hr later the owner BOB called with his FAKE ASS SYMPATHY.. it was more like s joke. He kept saying he’s been in this business a long time but he could not explain to me what was wrong with my car.. I found that very odd! Then he tried using words of encouragement but ultimately he was trying to persuade me that the engine would cost more than the car is worth and it wouldn’t be feasible to replace the engine. He also mentioned he could take the engine apart if he wanted to dig deep to find the cause of why the engine went bad but that would be a waste of time because the engine would cost more then the car was worth. That’s comment had me taken back because why are you not trying to figure out what is wrong with the engine??? And what do you mean a waste of time ?? You charged me a diagnostic fee. I was confused! Me and my mom had many questions to any possible alternatives we could make to save the car but all BOB could tell us was we should start making calls to the junk yard so we can atleast get something towards the car if possible. Bob told me if I kept the car on his lot after three days he would charge me $75 a day until it’s picked up. The next day I called to let them know I was having the car towed off the lot. I was told I needed to pay $180 which covered the diagnostic fee, supplies fee and waste fee. I couldn’t understand why I was originally told $150 and now they are tackling on supplies and waste fees when they couldn’t tell me what the hell was really wrong with the car??? I paid the fees and had my car towed to another shop for a second opinion. Guys automotive fixed my car the very next day! Told me I had a bad starter, battery and spark plugs! My car is up and running!!!! I have the same damn motor in my car and it is not bad ! They did not charge me to look at my car and was very professional and up front from the time they started the car to finish. I truly feel Clark’s automotive had no idea how to fix my car because it is a newer car.. but couldn’t they have just been upfront about it instead of putting me thru all of stress and anxiety telling me my engine was bad and I needed to junk my car that I’m still paying on??? That was the most HORRIBLE experience and I don’t wish it on anyone. Don’t take your car to Clarkes automotive, they are a joke!! I want my money back for the false diagnosis of my Jeep and I truly feel I deserve that on top of an apology!
